"The Church in Reading ....... on the streets of Reading"

 

 

 

 

Using sandwiches provided by a local town centre sandwich shop, Prêt a Manger, we go to Reading town centre on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings giving out hot drinks and sandwiches to those who are homeless, or in need of food.

 

The people we meet often want us to stop and chat for a while as the street can be a very lonely place.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

They can also mention any other needs they may have so that the on duty support worker can do some follow up work in the days following.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The numbers of individuals we see can vary from one or two if the weather is really poor,

 

up to 50 on a warm summers night when the town centre is really busy with people visiting pubs and clubs.
